Statement of Intent.

Welcome to Carbon Good Guys. We are not just another environmental web site, but the web site. A fairly arrogant statement to make, but together, we feel we have a huge contribution to make towards a positive global Climate change.

Recently the media have reported on the abuse of the Carbon credit/offset schemes and Carbon dioxide (C02) reduction measures by global companies. Big business seems incapable of being trusted to make real changes in the way they operate and effect Climate change.

Governments are often short sighted in their actions, unable or unwilling to take that giant step out on a limb, even though climate change effects the very planet we sleep on tonight. Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair recently said governments are too busy firefighting to truly make a difference. ‘It is frightening with the day-to-day hustle and bustle of government how little time is spent on the major issues such as carbon,’ he said. For example, the UK’s environment minister would come in for a meeting with him for perhaps two hours a month if he was lucky. The Cabinet would work out some short-term project and say: ‘OK,let’s do this or that.’

Mayor Amschel Rochschild in 1790 stated "Let me issue and control a nations money and I care not who writes the laws".  Large corporations seem to have fallen at the first fence in their abuse of carbon offset credits and the selling of EU provided carbon credits in order to satisfy their shareholders and financiers. You can not serve two masters, either one or the other. Money is a tool for power and as in all things, is open to abuse, despite climate change.

Many high profile business leaders and respected figures have expressed concerns at the "piecemeal efforts" being made to halt climate change and suggested that more effort is required.

Businesses rely on you, the consumer to buy their products and services to survive, prosper, develop and expand. Therefore you are the key to reversing climate change. If you care enough to question who sells you your products or services and vote with your feet, big business will be forced to move with you. In the old days, you did not expect the milk man to deliver your milk and then trample over your tulips on the way out, so today we don't expect companies to make profits at the cost of the environment that we and our children live in. Big business needs to change in its own sector, as we all do, and every little reverses climate change.

Here at Carbon Good Guys, we intend to have all major companies shown on our league tables, with rankings based on their real participation in Carbon dioxide (C02) reduction measures, whether that is a response to the Carbon Disclosure Project or investment in new meaningful technologies, or initiatives to change the way they have operated and lessen their impact on world climate change. We intend to have all 'mannikins' shown in the shop window, naked if necessary and cloth them with their environmental attire as this becomes available for each business. You will then be better informed as to who is really putting their money where their mouth is, or is spinning you a yarn with clever advertising. Climate change or corporate change?

You will soon be able to click, country by country, on your area of the globe and see who is making real efforts on carbon dioxide (C02) reduction measures and to the way they operate. This will allow you, the valued consumer, to make a more informed choice over who gets your cash and help reverse Climate change.

Who are the Carbon

Good Guys ?

Cosmonaut Vladimir Shatalov while looking down from space said "beyond air there is emptiness, coldness and darkness. The boundless blue sky, which gives breath and protects us from the endless black and death, is but an infinitesimally thin film. How dangerous it is to threaten even the smallest part of this gossamer, this conserver of life".

Movers and Shakers.

Sir Evelyn de Rothschild

The wealthiest 'family' in the world, the Bilderbergs ( they're called this after the first hotel they met in), have for over 50 years now, gathered together into one place for secret meetings, the other wealthiest  and influential people around the globe in politics, finance, business, news-media and special interest groups.

It is no secret that the Bilderbergs promote a globalist agenda and believe that national sovereignty is antiquated and regressive.

You do not have to be a conspiracy theorist to see that this is the most influential organisation on the planet.

These 'movers and shakers', sitting behind closed doors, play a huge key role in controlling countries and governments,  positioning huge volumes of money at their disposal  to protect and enhance the wealth of western creditors.

All countries are seeking to invest in renewable energy to reverse climate change and give their countrys security from future volatile energy markets and their dependence on fossil fuels.

The more independent, the less control or leverage. This 'cat and mouse' power struggle will only serve to damage our survival and the fragile framework that all depend upon to pay dividends tomorrow. It will take a massive 'policy' change on their part, to consider the cost of climate change to the planet that we all rely upon, and begin to direct that power to new schemes, initiatives and technologys that will aid in reversing climate change. Surely it will require some of these power brokers to graciously step back and use their influence, in a way that can be measured now in our lifetime and for centuries to come. Who knows, that esteemed gallery of family pictures could yet end up displaying a face who stands out from the rest, to generations unborn, for good reason. Climate change is a reality.

Action required now to reverse Climate Change.

Big business has always spent large sums on advertising and building their particular brand or image with individuals and households across the country. But how do their environmental awareness  claims made in various media advertisements translate into action on Carbon dioxide (C02) reduction measures to reverse Climate change.

League tables provided here for the top companies in Britain, give you an idea on who is putting their ‘money where their mouth is'. It will come as no surprise to you that there are the Carbon Good Guys and not so Good Guys. Large companies with large funds at their disposal may decide that it is more cost effective to throw some money at carbon offset schemes, rather than make any meaningful attempt at changing the way they do business to prevent climate change. Indeed, recent media articles such as one carried by the Guardian have exposed Britain's biggest polluting companies bending to economic pressure and cashing in their Carbon credits in order to bolster ailing balance sheets. A short term gain with little or no thought for the future of global warming and obvious Climate change.

History has shown that apart from legislation, consumer power is the only real way to change a companies trading ethics. As consumers we must be prepared to act responsibly and perhaps pay slightly more for that item sourced from more ethically and environmentally sustainable suppliers. Voting with our feet is perhaps the only way big business will truly change the way they operate and only then will we reverse climate change.

Cheaper Oil - Less investment in renewable's

to halt and reverse

Climate Change.

The investment opportunities in climate change depend significantly on the price of energy. The surge in oil prices to more than $145 a barrel last year made many alternative-energy sources economically viable and conservation measures compelling. Carbon’s impact on corporate bottom lines dwindled when oil prices collapsed, though. - Institutional Investor August 2009

Climate Change - Science correct ?

Whether or not you believe the scientist on the effects that Carbon dioxide (C02)emissions are having on our planet we all take for granted, we can not dispute that climate change is a reality and we are using up the planets resources at an un-sustainable rate. So, if our awareness means we start using those resources more responsibly then surly we are on the way to a ‘win win’ situation for ourselves, planet Earth, and reversing climate change now.
